First Impressions
Wyoming Whiskey is quieter than its Texas neighbours — a gentler, more elegant expression of western bourbon that leans on its high-altitude grain and mineral-rich water.
Distillery & Heritage
Founded in 2009 by Brad and Kate Mead in the tiny town of Kirby, Wyoming, the distillery hired former Maker's Mark master distiller Steve Nally to launch production. All corn, wheat and barley is grown within 100 miles of the distillery in the Big Horn Basin, and limestone water comes from a mile-deep aquifer. It is the first legal whiskey distillery in Wyoming's history.
Tasting Notes in Detail
The nose is soft and sweet — corn, vanilla, honeyed oak and apricot. The palate is mellow with brown sugar, toasted almond and baked apple. The finish is clean with vanilla and a touch of pepper.
Verdict
An understated, terroir-driven bourbon. Wyoming Whiskey proves the West can be subtle.
