I have been looking forward to getting my hands on Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series No. 11 Añejo Tequila Barrel-Finished from Series No. Bottled at 45% ABV) and priced at $41.99 for a 375ml bottle, it promises genuine character.
Nose
A delicious aroma of banana, almond, and apricot with slightly sharp astringent notes. in an unpleasant manner. With this tasting, I was surprised at how well-balanced the whiskey is with the tequila barrel aging, there was the perfect amount of recognizable añejo notes without being overwhelmed. We review Jack Daniels Distillery Series No. 11, first aged in American White Oak barrels, then transferred to barrels in which añejo tequila was matured in Mexico before returning to Lynchburg, TN. Finish
Maybe it helps that I love a good tequila, but I found this whiskey quite satisfying. As mentioned above, other tequila-barrel finishes Ive tried have been overly sweet, but the Jack Daniels Distillery Series No. 11 balances the classic Tennessee whiskey recipe well with the añejo, showing a skilled hand from Master Distiller Fletcher and Taster Danny Lamb.
The Bottom Line
Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series No. 11 Añejo Tequila Barrel-Finished delivers the goods. It is well-made, genuinely enjoyable, and at $41.99 for a 375ml bottle represents solid value for what you are getting. I would happily buy this again.
