Tasting Notes

Nose

Vanilla cream, coconut shavings, lemon sherbet, ripe pear, soft oak.

Palate

Light and sweet — vanilla custard, banana, citrus, gentle white pepper, brown sugar.

Finish

Short to medium, clean, with lingering vanilla and a touch of zest.

First Impressions

Released in 2014 as a replacement for the Classic, Auchentoshan American Oak leans hard into its bourbon-barrel maturation.

Distillery & Heritage

Auchentoshan, Gaelic for 'corner of the field', is Scotland's only fully triple-distilled malt distillery. The American Oak expression is matured exclusively in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels from the United States.

Tasting Notes in Detail

The nose is unmistakably bourbon-cask: vanilla pod, coconut, lemon sherbet, with ripe pear underneath. The palate is light but creamy — custard, banana, candied citrus and a sprinkle of brown sugar.

Verdict

An honest, easy-drinking entry-level Lowlander.
