Tasting Notes

Nose

Intense sherry, dried cherry, dark chocolate. At batch strength, Tamdhu's sherry character is amplified to vivid intensity. Raisin, treacle, a robust nuttiness. Water reveals layers of dried fruit and vanilla beneath the sherry's assertive opening.

Palate

Full-bodied and intensely sherried — dark fruit, chocolate, a robust oak spice. The batch strength gives the sherry maturation maximum expression. Mid-palate brings espresso, roasted almond and a magnificent warmth. Dense, chewy and deeply satisfying.

Finish

Very long, with sherry richness and dark fruit sustaining in waves.

Tamdhu Batch Strength is released in numbered batches, each at whatever strength the selected sherry casks deliver. Like all Tamdhu, it is matured exclusively in oloroso sherry casks, and the cask-strength presentation allows the full force of that sherry maturation to express itself. Each batch varies slightly, but the quality has been consistently outstanding.

At batch strength, Tamdhu's sherry character becomes vivid and three-dimensional. The oloroso influence — which at standard strength provides generous dried fruit and chocolate — becomes a wall of flavour at full proof. The spirit has enough quality and weight to support this intensity, creating a genuine partnership between cask and distillate.

Tamdhu Batch Strength is one of the best-value cask-strength sherried single malts in Scotland — a claim that is becoming Tamdhu's signature. Each batch offers a slightly different perspective on the distillery's character, and the consistently high quality has built a devoted following. For sherry enthusiasts seeking maximum intensity at a minimum premium, Tamdhu Batch Strength is essential.
