First Impressions
Glenmorangie's stills are twenty-six feet tall — the tallest in Scotland. Only the lightest vapours reach the top, creating a spirit of remarkable delicacy. Aged ten years in first and second-fill ex-bourbon casks in the Highland town of Tain.
Tasting
The nose is bright with lemon, apricot, and vanilla. On the palate at 43%, apple, banana bread, honey, and florals. The finish blooms with citrus zest.
The Verdict
Glenmorangie Original earns a 7 — not the most complex, but at the price, one of the best entry-level single malts available. The twenty-six-foot stills produce a lightness and elegance that heavier distilleries cannot achieve. At £35, Highland elegance for everyday drinking.
