First Impressions
Glenmorangie's Original is the bottle that taught a generation what 'delicate' meant in Highland whisky.
Distillery & Heritage
Founded in 1843 on the shores of the Dornoch Firth at Tain, Glenmorangie operates Scotland's tallest pot stills at 5.14 metres, roughly the height of an adult giraffe. Only the lightest, most delicate vapours make it to the top, producing the famously fragrant new-make. The Original is matured for ten years in slow-grown American white oak ex-bourbon casks.
Tasting Notes in Detail
The nose is unmistakably Glenmorangie — peaches and cream, vanilla custard, a twist of mandarin and a faint herbal lift. The palate is creamy and rounded, with malt-loaf sweetness, gentle toasted oak and a pear-drop fruitiness.
Verdict
An everyday Highland classic that punches well above its modest price.
