First Impressions
Glencadam 10 pours pale gold and immediately announces itself as a softer, more delicate Highland style.
Distillery & Heritage
Founded in 1825 in the Angus town of Brechin, Glencadam was for decades a quiet workhorse for blends like Stewart's Cream of the Barley. Angus Dundee Distillers acquired it in 2003. The stills, with their distinctive upward-angled lyne arms, encourage reflux and produce an unusually delicate, fruity spirit.
Tasting Notes in Detail
The nose is gentle and inviting — vanilla custard, ripe pear, a touch of orange zest. The palate matches the promise: creamy mouthfeel, soft barley sweetness, almond and a faint floral note.
Verdict
If you want subtlety rather than fireworks, Glencadam 10 is one of the best-value 46% bottlings in Scotland.
