Fruitful Spirits is a new independent bottler with a pedigree that belies its youth. The 21 Year Old blended whisky was assembled by Kirsteen Campbell — one of the most respected blenders in the industry — from a selection of whiskies sourced from Edrington's most prestigious distilleries. Only 520 bottles were produced, each drawn from a single old sherry butt that had married the components since 2019.
The specification reads like a whisky enthusiast's wish list: 21 years of age, sherried, non-chill filtered, bottled at 45.4%, with Edrington's Highland and Speyside distilleries providing the foundation. The limited run and the calibre of the blender suggest this is a calling card — a first impression designed to be remembered.
The nose is deep and woody: cedar, mahogany, nuts, and dried fruits, with the sherry butt contributing a rich, dark complexity. The palate follows with fig jam, roasted pecans, and dark chocolate — concentrated, sherried, and surprisingly elegant for a blended whisky. The 21 years of maturation have softened the grain component into something almost indistinguishable from malt.
The finish is long, with dried fruit, dark chocolate, and a gentle warmth from the sherry wood. It is an impressive debut from a bottler worth tracking — the quality of the whisky and the limited quantity suggest this is a label that serious collectors will come to regret overlooking.
