First Impressions
Cotswolds don't peat their own malt, but they came up with a brilliant workaround — fill ex-bourbon casks with their unpeated single malt, then finish the spirit in casks that previously held heavily peated Scotch.
Distillery & Heritage
Released as part of the distillery's small-batch Hearts and Crafts series and at cask strength in the Peated Cask edition. The cask strength bottling is non-chill-filtered and natural colour.
Tasting Notes in Detail
The nose opens with soft woodsmoke and honeyed cereal, then orchard fruit and a coastal salty note creep in. The palate hits sweet first — toffee, vanilla, lemon — before the smoke unfurls.
Verdict
A clever, beautifully made peated English whisky.
