Bruichladdich Thirty is the distillery's first-ever 30 Year Old — matured for three full decades in a combination of 50% first-fill and 50% refill ex-bourbon barrels. Unpeated, uncoloured and presented at its natural strength of 43.2%, it represents the most mature expression of Bruichladdich's unpeated character ever released.
The bourbon-only maturation over thirty years creates an extraordinary elegance. Without the influence of sherry, wine or new oak, the spirit and the American oak have had three decades to develop an intimate, integrated relationship. The vanilla, coconut and tropical fruit are entirely natural — the slow accumulation of thirty years of gentle interaction.
Bruichladdich Thirty is a fine example of expression at this age range. The quality is beyond reproach, with very little to criticise. At £1,500, it occupies the luxury tier, but the liquid — thirty years of meticulous, unhurried Islay maturation — justifies the occasion. Bruichladdich's most patient achievement, and one of its finest.
