Tasting Notes

Nose

Big burst of red berries, blueberry, honeysuckle, orange blossom, sweet malt — the wine barrels immediately apparent

Palate

Chocolate raspberry pudding, vanilla, caramel, toasted baking spice, creamy nuttiness, honey, cinnamon — a natural bridge for wine drinkers exploring whisky

Finish

Bright red fruit fading to dry wine tannins and gentle oak — the finish makes it distinctly Australian, unlike any Scotch or bourbon

Expert Review

7.5/10

Founded 2007 by David Vitale, mentored by Australian whisky godfather Bill Lark. Vitale's breakthrough: maturing whisky exclusively in local red wine barrels — Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir — from Barossa Valley, Yarra Valley, and McLaren Vale. Melbourne's 'four seasons in one day' climate causes rapid barrel expansion and contraction, accelerating maturation. Best Craft Distilled Whisky in the World 2016.
