I have been looking forward to getting my hands on Copperworks American Single Malt Whiskey Release 048. Bottled at 50% abv); 750ml; $69 and priced at $69.99, it promises genuine character.

Finish

American Single Malt partially finished in Manzanilla Sherry casks; 100 proof (50% abv); 750ml; $69.99 MSRP For a classic single malt this whisky struggles to provide a familiar profile. The brand has done a decent job of mixing the beer malt flavors with those more reminiscent of a classic scotch. It is also a fair bit hotter proof-wise than your everyday single malts and for all of these reasons I find it to be a bit unbalanced. Not a bad whiskey and fun for an experiment but maybe not right for an every-day-drinker.

The Bottom Line

Copperworks American Single Malt Whiskey Release 048 is fine — not bad, not great, just fine. At $69.99, I think there are better options in this range if you are willing to look around.
