Tasting Notes

Nose

Cherry bubblegum, brown sugar, vanilla, liquorice, sweet citrus — orange, lime — musty oak — approachable and inviting

Palate

Oily texture — dark brown sugar, dried fruits, tobacco, barrel char, honey, fresh apple, vanilla — the 53% rye providing moderate spice without overwhelming the sweeter corn

Finish

Pepper and leather upfront with gentle heat, fading into pear, honey, vanilla — medium length, a versatile rye for cocktails and neat sipping alike

Expert Review

7/10

Made using the same triple-distillation process as Woodford Reserve Bourbon — copper pot still, column still, then pot still again — at the same Versailles distillery that dates to 1812. Mashbill: 53% rye, 33% corn, 14% malted barley. A grain-forward Kentucky-style rye rather than a high-rye monster. Launched around 2015 as a permanent line extension.
