Nose
Pine, tart apple, vanilla, brioche, lemon peel, honey, gentle herbs — shy at first, then opens with gentle Speyside character
Palate
Medium-bodied — honey, toasted oats, caramel, fudge, boiled sweets, espresso, ground almonds, granary toast with butter, hints of liquorice and cloves
Finish
Short to medium — minty, menthol, white peach, lemon rind, peppery tingle, malt-focused cereals — pleasant but fleeting at 40%
Expert Review
7/10Known as 'The Gentle Dram' — from the highest village in the Scottish Highlands. Founded 1965 with four steam-heated stills, water from Ballantruan Spring. Now owned by Angus Dundee. IWSC Gold Medal winner. Matured in bourbon casks for 16 years. Fourth-generation distiller Robert Fleming. Pleasant and approachable, though many wish it were bottled at a higher strength.
