Tasting Notes

Nose

Bright and fresh — lemon, apple orchard, honey, toffee, vanilla, pear drops, floral lavender, a hint of spice

Palate

Light and honeyed with orchard fruits, oats, hay, a creamy undercurrent, a distinctive herbal and pine-needle character

Finish

Medium — gently oaky and grassy, dry berry sweetness from sherry cask influence, a light, summery Speyside farewell

Expert Review

7/10

Founded 1897 in Rothes by John Hopkins & Company. Designed by the legendary Charles Doig, the architect who created the iconic pagoda-roofed kiln that became synonymous with Scottish distilleries. The distillery famously rushed to produce its first spirit before the end of 1897 to mark Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, with workers labouring in freezing conditions with no windows or doors yet fitted. One of the most affordable 10-year-old single malts available.
