Nose
Vanilla, ginger, nutmeg. Fresh lemon zest. Clean and straightforward — the three-cask maturation (first and second-fill bourbon plus oloroso sherry) adds modest complexity.
Palate
Layer upon layer of creamy toffee, tropical fruits, a touch of coconut. Sweet and warming, caramel and gentle spices. The Douglas Laing sourcing pedigree shows in the quality of the component whiskies.
Finish
Delicate spices, mellow almonds, dark chocolate fused with sweet vanilla. A surprisingly composed close for the price.
