Tasting Notes

Nose

Traditional Jim Beam — caramel, peanut butter, vanilla, honey-roasted nuts, oak spice, dried apricot, sweet tobacco leaf, all 100 proof points showing

Palate

Caramel and brown sugar — rye spice, barrel char, vanilla, dried red apple, roasted oak, orange peel, cinnamon, clove, mocha, dark chocolate, the nine years of oak adding weight and depth

Finish

Long — capsaicin spice growing rapidly, oak and char building, dryness, turning to ginger snaps, bold and unapologetic

Expert Review

8/10

One of four bourbons in Jim Beam's Small Batch Collection — aged nine years and bottled at 100 proof. Honey-roasted nuts, caramel, oak spice, and sweet tobacco. Dark, sweet, and roasty with enough fruitiness for balance. A well-rounded bourbon at a serious proof for a serious price.
