Tasting Notes

Nose

Dense caramel, vanilla, dark cherry, baked apple, cinnamon, chocolate, roasted oak, clove, tobacco, orange peel — rich and inviting

Palate

More balanced than the 9 year — rich caramel and vanilla with cherry licorice, candied orange peel, grape notes, oak in harmony, the 12 years adding depth without bitterness

Finish

Long — sweetness gives way to building spice, oak char, black pepper, pleasant dryness, the 100 proof providing structure that holds everything together

Expert Review

8.5/10

Booker Noe — Jim Beam's grandson, Master Distiller from 1960 — created Knob Creek in 1992 as part of his pioneering Small Batch Collection alongside Booker's, Baker's, and Basil Hayden's. His vision: pre-Prohibition-style bourbon at full strength, full flavour, patiently aged. The 12 Year Old extends that philosophy — 100 proof with deeper oak character. Among the best Jim Beam family offerings.
