Tasting Notes

Nose

Orange, sweet apple, oak, faint ginger, sea salt, light smoke, toffee, brown sugar, hints of marmalade — gentle and approachable

Palate

Light to medium body — mellow vanilla, crème brûlée smokiness, golden raisins, caramel, roasted nuts, subtle spice, sweet and salty in harmony like salted caramel

Finish

Mellow — lingering vanilla, whisper of smoke, mild peat, sweet sherry, coffee notes, a gentle island farewell

Expert Review

7/10

One road, one distillery, one pub, fewer than 200 residents — outnumbered by approximately 5,000 red deer. George Orwell described Jura as 'extremely unget-at-able' when he arrived in 1946 to complete Nineteen Eighty-Four at Barnhill farmhouse on the island's northern tip. Matured in American oak bourbon barrels, finished in Oloroso sherry butts.
