Tasting Notes

Nose

Demerara sugar and dark chocolate, gingersnap biscuits, reduced blackberries, toffee apple, orange preserve, cinnamon, dried tobacco — rich and inviting

Palate

Full-bodied — raspberries, cherries, oranges, raisins, sultanas, chocolate, butterscotch, ginger, nutmeg, peppery bite, creamy mouthfeel throughout

Finish

Medium-long — chocolate and hazelnut, drying oak with slight bitterness, the Pedro Ximénez sweetness persisting beneath the tannins

One of the few distilleries offering a core range matured entirely in sherry wood — Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso casks, non-chill filtered, natural colour. Founded 1826 by James Allardice in Forgue, Aberdeenshire. Jim Murray scored it 92. At £38, one of the best-value fully sherried single malts available.
