The nose is fantastic — herbal, almost hay-like with a peppery edge that screams rye. On the palate though it falls a bit short for me, a touch thin in the mid-palate before the spice kicks back in on the finish. For £90 I wanted a bit more depth, but I respect what they're doing with English rye.

I grabbed this on a whim and I'm glad I did. There's a lovely spicy rye kick upfront that mellows into honey and dried grass — very different from American ryes. At 46.3% it's got enough punch neat without being a bruiser. Second bottle from Fielden and they're really finding their stride.
