Tasting Notes

Nose

Bergamot and vanilla bean, dark chocolate, honey, ripe fruit, sweet hazelnuts — the Madeira influence is immediate and captivating

Palate

Ripe green melon, toasted oak, papaya, dried fruit, spicy aromatic maltiness, nutty raisin notes, almost cheese-like salinity — thick, chewy texture from 21 years of patience

Finish

Long and raisiny — wood, spice, malt, dark fruity sweetness, the Madeira cask leaving its signature depth, among the finest finishes in Irish whiskey

Expert Review

9/10

From the oldest registered whiskey distillery licence in the world, granted 1608 in County Antrim. Triple distilled in copper pot stills. Nineteen years in Oloroso sherry butts and bourbon barrels, then finished two years in Madeira casks. Jim Murray scored it 95.5, Whisky Advocate 96. Each bottle individually numbered. Irish Single Malt of the Year multiple times.
