Tasting Notes

Nose

Honey, butterscotch, citrus orange. Heather honey, fresh vanilla pod, malted biscuit. Golden syrup, toffee, candied lemon and toasted hazelnut. Deep gold colour. Beautifully mature.

Palate

Oily texture with good viscosity yet delicate — malted barley, peaches, citrus, raspberry tartness. Floral, honey, subtle winey character, herbal, earthy, a hint of minerals. The Sauternes and port cask contributions add complexity beyond bourbon alone.

Finish

Tropical fruits and toasted mellow oak linger. Fairly long with light oak, malted barley and honey sweetness.

Expert Review

8.2/10

Bruichladdich's first age-statement release in years — eighteen years in bourbon, Sauternes and port casks, unpeated Islay at genuine maturity.
