Tasting Notes

Nose

Powerful and peaty — orange marmalade, oysters, barbecue bacon, mango, lime juice, maritime intensity, the French oak adding exotic spice notes beneath the peat

Palate

Torrents of taste — chewy peppered steak in pepper sauce, crispy seaweed, black tarry espresso coating the palate, melted dark fruits of blackcurrant, blueberry, cherry, bitter almond, the 57.1% adding enormous power

Finish

Coffee, white pepper, leather — French oak, hickory-smoked meat, long and intense, the whirlpool finally releasing its grip slowly

Expert Review

9/10

Named for the dangerous whirlpool north of Islay — ex-bourbon barrels and French oak (virgin and wine casks) at 57.1%. 50-55 PPM of peatiness. Orange marmalade, oysters, barbecue bacon, dark espresso, and melted dark fruits. Torrents of taste bombarding the tongue. A vortex of flavour.
