Tasting Notes

Nose

Soft apricot and vanilla cream — honey, blackcurrant jam, leather, tobacco, fresh apples and oranges, supple sultanas, the triple cask influence building complexity

Palate

Oily and rich — cognac-like, vanilla, stewed berries, raisins, plums, blood oranges, hazelnuts, almonds, chocolate, polished wood, coffee, the 18 years providing extraordinary depth

Finish

Exceptionally long — crème brûlée sweetness moving into gentle oak spice, the triple cask influence ensuring the finish evolves for minutes, one of Speyside's longest finishes

Expert Review

9/10

Double Gold at San Francisco 2011 and 2012 — bourbon casks, Oloroso sherry butts, then finished in Pedro Ximénez. A heavily sherried Speyside with the roundness and opulence expected from long ageing. Apricot, vanilla cream, blackcurrant jam, raisins, and hazelnuts. Exceptionally long finish.
