Tasting Notes

Nose

Mango, papaya, dried fig, polished oak, dark chocolate, leather and warm baking spice.

Palate

Sumptuous — tropical fruit, sherried fruitcake, toasted almond, espresso, oily pot still texture and waves of spice.

Finish

Exceptionally long, with dark fruit, oak tannin, cocoa and that creamy pot still signature.

First Impressions

Redbreast 21 enters the glass deeply burnished and walks the rare line between maturity and vibrancy.

Distillery & Heritage

Like the rest of the Redbreast core range, the 21 is distilled at Midleton from a mixed mash of malted and unmalted barley and matured in a combination of American bourbon and Spanish Oloroso sherry casks for a minimum of 21 years. Bottled at 46% and non-chill filtered, it has won numerous World Whiskies Awards 'World's Best Pot Still' titles since its launch in 2013.

Tasting Notes in Detail

The nose is unusually tropical — mango and papaya — over dried fig, polished oak and warm baking spice. The palate is sumptuous: tropical fruit, sherried fruitcake, toasted almond, espresso and that oily pot still texture.

Verdict

Among the very finest Irish whiskeys money can buy.
