Kentucky Peerless Rye uses the same sweet mash process as the distillery's bourbon — fresh yeast for each fermentation, producing a brighter, fruitier fermentation than the sour mash method. The rye mash bill is undisclosed but high in rye content, and like all Peerless products, it is bottled at barrel proof without chill filtration.
The sweet mash amplifies the rye's natural characteristics. The brighter fermentation accentuates the grain's citrus and pepper notes, creating a rye that is more vivid and clean-edged than sour mash equivalents. At barrel proof, these characteristics are presented with maximum intensity and without compromise.
Kentucky Peerless Rye is one of the finest craft ryes in Kentucky. The sweet mash process provides genuine differentiation, the barrel-proof presentation demonstrates confidence, and the quality of the liquid justifies the premium. Together with the bourbon, it establishes Peerless as one of Louisville's most impressive and principled distilleries.
