Tasting Notes

Nose

Baked apple, ripe pear, honeyed malt, vanilla pod, seasoned oak, toasted almond, clove, delicate spice — elegant and inviting

Palate

Silky and layered — orchard fruit, dried apricot, creamy toffee, sweet vanilla, gentle oak spice, marzipan, citrus peel, dark chocolate

Finish

Long, warm, balanced — lingering orchard sweetness, soft oak spice, savoury warmth — the 2022 upgrade evident in the fuller body

First Impressions

Jameson 18 — the 2022 reformulation upgraded to 46% non-chill filtered from the previous 40%. A significant improvement. Pot still and grain blend from Midleton, 18 years.

Tasting

Baked apple and vanilla nose. Silky palate of orchard fruit, toffee, and marzipan. Long, warm, balanced finish. The 2022 upgrade is transformative.

The Verdict

Jameson 18 earns an 8 — the 2022 upgrade to 46% non-chill filtered elevated this from good to excellent. At £145, premium, but the 18 years of Midleton maturation and the improved body justify it. Ireland's most famous brand at its most refined.
