First Impressions
Bottled at 46% and non-chill filtered in recent expressions, Jameson 18 pours a deep amber.
Distillery & Heritage
Produced at the New Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Jameson 18 is a blend of pot still and grain whiskeys aged a minimum of 18 years in a combination of bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, before a short finishing period in first-fill bourbon barrels.
Tasting Notes in Detail
The nose layers toffee and dried stone fruit over polished antique oak. The palate is unusually rich for a blended Irish whiskey — raisin, vanilla custard, marmalade and a touch of leather.
Verdict
An elegant, mature blend that shows what extra time and quality casks can do for triple-distilled Irish whiskey.
