Tasting Notes

Nose

Toasted oak, vanilla bean, banana bread, hints of leather and roasted corn.

Palate

Rich caramel, baking spice, charred oak, dark cherry and a whisper of liquorice — fuller and spicier than standard Old No. 7.

Finish

Long, warm and oaky with lingering vanilla and a touch of pepper.

First Impressions

Single Barrel Select pours a deep amber, noticeably darker than standard Old No. 7.

Distillery & Heritage

Launched in 1997, Single Barrel was Jack Daniel's first major line extension in decades. Master Distiller Jeff Arnett (and now Chris Fletcher) hand-selects barrels from the upper reaches of the Lynchburg barrelhouses.

Tasting Notes in Detail

The Lincoln County Process — charcoal mellowing through 10 feet of sugar maple — is still in play, but the upper-floor maturation gives this an oakier, spicier character.

Verdict

The Jack Daniel's most bourbon drinkers don't realise exists.
