First Impressions
The Bordeaux link runs deep: the Barton family of Château Léoville Barton are themselves of Irish descent, having settled in Bordeaux in the 1720s. This bottling closes a circle — Midleton-distilled single pot still aged in ex-bourbon and sherry, then finished for 12-24 months in Léoville Barton wine casks.
Distillery & Heritage
Green Spot is bottled for Mitchell & Son of Dublin, the city's last surviving spirits merchant of its kind, with the brand dating back to the early 20th century. Bottled at 46% and non-chill-filtered.
Tasting Notes in Detail
The nose carries red berries and cinnamon over the classic Green Spot orchard fruit and pot still oiliness. The palate is brighter and more savoury than the standard Green Spot — dark cherry and blackcurrant from the wine cask.
Verdict
One of the most successful wine-cask finishes in Irish whiskey.
