At cask strength, the nose is concentrated and powerful — rye spice, toasted oak, and dark caramel dominate, with stewed orchard fruit and a flourish of pepper weaving through. A splash of water opens up hidden layers of fruit and mellows the oak without dulling the grain's voice.
