Tasting Notes

Nose

Tropical fruits — pineapple, coconut — green apple, apricot, vanilla, floral notes, toasted oak, lemonade brightness

Palate

Medium-bodied — honey, Tahitian vanilla, melon, pineapple, coconut milk, hazelnut, cocoa powder, the Mizunara oak contributing lavender and incense, smooth and elegant

Finish

Medium-short — clean, lingering honey-sesame, custard, soft oak tannins, gentle wood spice, a whisper of Japanese temple incense from the Mizunara

Expert Review

8.5/10

From Japan's first and oldest malt whisky distillery, established 1923 by Shinjiro Torii on the outskirts of Osaka. First released in 1984. Matured in a combination of American oak, Spanish Oloroso sherry, and the rare Japanese Mizunara oak — which contributes a distinctive spicy-sweet, floral character found nowhere else in the whisky world.
