Tasting Notes

Nose

Dark fruit and caramel, sharp honey, marzipan, toasted oak — the second barrel's deep toast is immediately apparent

Palate

Full-bodied — chocolate, cherries, toasted marshmallow, vanilla, hazelnut, wood spice, the double oak adding richness without overwhelming sweetness

Finish

Dark caramel, apple, baking spices — the deeply toasted second barrel leaving its signature warmth, long and satisfying

Expert Review

8/10

Twice-barreled: fully matured Distiller's Select is re-barreled into a second new American oak barrel that has been deeply toasted then lightly charred — the inverse of the first barrel. From Kentucky's oldest distilling site, where Elijah Pepper began distilling at Glenn's Creek, Versailles in 1812. A National Historic Landmark.
