Expert Review

8/10

Willett's estate bottled rye delivers bold, unapologetic grain character at a hefty 56% ABV. A confident four-year-old straight rye that earns its price through transparency, power, and genuine quality.

Sara Lindstrom VIPsAllowed — Decent but I expected more from Willett
7/10

Had high hopes based on the hype and it's perfectly fine rye whiskey. Spicy, a bit sweet, nice long finish. But I've had Kentucky ryes at half the price that give me the same experience. The family estate bottling is cool and the bottle looks great on the shelf, I'll give it that.

Look, it's a solid rye — loads of peppery kick and some nice caramel sweetness underneath all that proof. But at nearly £94 for a 4 year old, I can't help feeling you're paying for the Willett name. I'd buy it again on sale but not at full price.

For a 4 year old rye this has no business being this good. At 56% ABV it's hot out of the bottle but give it ten minutes in the glass and you get this beautiful wave of baking spice, cinnamon, and cracked black pepper. I added a few drops of water and it opened up even more. Willett knows what they're doing with rye.

Rafael Santos VIPsAllowed — Proper cask strength rye
8/10

Nose is all rye bread, dill, and dried fruit. On the palate you definitely feel that 56% but it carries a ton of flavour with it — clove, vanilla, charred oak. Not the most complex whiskey I've ever had but it's honest and well made. A couple ice cubes and I'm happy.

Aria Kim VIPsAllowed — My go-to for Manhattan season
8/10

I drink most of my ryes in cocktails and this one makes an absolutely killer Manhattan. The high proof means it doesn't get lost behind the vermouth, and those spicy rye notes really shine through. Neat it's a bit aggressive for my taste but that's what it's built for.
