Tasting Notes

Nose

Maple syrup, green apple, milk chocolate, vanilla custard, orange peel, cocoa powder, toasted almond, banana malt, baking spice — richly complex

Palate

Creamy, velvet mouthfeel — vanilla custard, soft baked apple, acacia honey, sugary sultana, nougat, orchard fruit, caramel, nutty banana malted shake

Finish

Medium — oaky, malty, fruity with caramel-banana notes, the five malts creating a depth unusual in American whisky

Expert Review

8/10

Seattle craft distillery founded 2010 by Matt Hofmann and Emerson Lamb — pioneering American single malt whisky. Uses five malts: Washington Select Pale, Munich, Extra Special, Brown, and Pale Chocolate. Aged in new American oak, ex-bourbon, and ex-Oloroso sherry casks. Hofmann (Forbes 30 Under 30, American Master Distiller of the Year 2018) trained at Heriot-Watt. Acquired by Rémy Cointreau 2017.
