8.3/10Tomintoul's 14 Year Old cognac finish is a smart, well-priced Speyside that pairs age-statement credibility with an interesting cask choice. At 46% and under ninety quid, it's quietly one of the better value propositions on the shelf right now.

3 reviewsI grabbed this on a whim and I'm glad I did. The cognac cask gives it this lovely dried fruit and grape sweetness that sits perfectly alongside the classic Speyside honey notes. At 46% it's got enough punch to hold up with a splash of water but I prefer it neat. One of the better cask finishes I've had this year.

15 April 2026Nice whisky, well made, 14 years has given it plenty of depth. You get warm spice on the nose and then the cognac influence comes through on the palate with raisin and a bit of dark chocolate. At £90 it's not an everyday pour for me but I'd happily order it at a bar.
