Sultana, fig, winter spice — cloves, cinnamon — vanilla fudge, cut grass, apple peel, light smoke — rich and inviting

Palate

Sweet and full — barley sugar, honeycomb, chocolate orange, dried apricot, nougat, tropical fruit, honey, raisins, cherries — the Oloroso finish adding depth

Finish

Long, dry, chewy oak — cracked pepper, ginger — the 18 years and sherry finish creating a finish that lingers beautifully

Best Highland Single Malt 2014. Finished in Oloroso sherry casks. Non-chill filtered, 46%. Japanese-owned (Takara Shuzo since 1986). At £70 for an 18-year-old sherry-finished Highland malt, outstanding value. The quality-to-price ratio is hard to beat in this age bracket.
