Tasting Notes

Nose

Stone fruits and golden syrup, vanilla cream, plums and apricots, cinnamon warmth, a hint of lavender and fresh pine

Palate

Honey sweetness meets milk chocolate and orange zest, caramel, lemon brightness, the sherry finish adding plum and nutmeg depth — harmoniously balanced

Finish

Medium-long — buttery with toasted almond, some cayenne prickliness, dry woody notes fading to dark chocolate and coffee

Expert Review

7.5/10

Founded 1897 and expanded to 23 stills by 1974, Tomatin was once the world's largest malt whisky distillery. After liquidation in 1986, it was purchased by Takara Shuzo — making it the first Scotch distillery under Japanese ownership. Matured in bourbon barrels then finished in Oloroso sherry casks. Quietly one of the best value Highlands.
