Clara Johansson — Good but pricey for what it is

Nice whisky, don't get me wrong. Rich and warming with Christmas cake vibes and some spice on the finish. But at nearly £88 I keep comparing it to what else I could get for that money — there are Scottish single malts at cask strength that punch harder for less. Would happily drink it again, just wouldn't rush to rebuy.

I grabbed this on a whim and I'm glad I did. At 56% it's got serious punch but there's a lovely sherry sweetness underneath — dried fruits, dark chocolate, a hint of orange peel. Added a few drops of water and it really opened up. The Lakes are doing something special down in the Lake District.
