Tasting Notes

Nose

Fig, date, walnut and dark toffee. Beneath the fruit, old leather and a touch of furniture polish.

Palate

Rich and nutty. Christmas cake, raisin, treacle and a good bite of clove. The sherry cask influence is clearer than in the younger expressions, and the oak frames the dram handsomely.

Finish

Long, drying, with bitter chocolate, walnut skin and a final echo of dried orange peel.

Eighteen years in Speyside oak brings out a darker, more brooding face of Dufftown. Sherry influence is plainer here, the fruit drier, the oak more assertive — a handsome older expression of Diageo's European Singleton.
