Tasting Notes

Nose

Artisanal caramel, malty sweetness, nuttiness, tropical fruit, sherry, sultanas, grapefruit, minty edge — intensity from the cask strength

Palate

Flavour bomb — rich vanilla, big cinnamon spice, caramel explosion, black pepper, velvety oily texture, thick fruity notes — full-bodied at full proof

Finish

Very long — spices and fruit, oily sherry, butterscotch, burnt malt, olive brine rising late — extraordinary length

Expert Review

9/10

The standard Redbreast 12 turned up to 11. Triple distilled single pot still at cask strength (typically 57-60%). Bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry butts. Non-chill filtered. Released in annual batches. One of the best value cask-strength whiskies available. Richer, more complex, worth every penny over the standard bottling. A flavour bomb.
