Clara Johansson — Good but not sure it justifies the premium

I'm a big fan of the standard Oban 14 so I was excited to try the Distillers Edition. The sherry cask influence adds some nice spiced orange and toffee notes, but I'm not convinced it's enough of an upgrade over the 14 to warrant the extra cost. Still a solid dram neat, just maybe not the value play in this price bracket.

Picked this up for my birthday and it didn't disappoint. The Montilla Fino cask finish gives it this lovely dried fruit sweetness layered over Oban's signature sea salt and smoke. At 43% it's smooth enough to sip neat all evening. Pricey at nearly ninety quid but honestly worth it for what you get.
