7.5/10A cask strength Highland single malt from Nc'nean matured in an ex-Moscatel cask for eight years. Fruit-forward, confidently bottled at natural strength, and priced fairly for a single cask release that does something genuinely different.

21 reviewsI tried this neat and got a lot of wine-forward fruit with some malty cereal underneath. It's pleasant and well-made but at £93 I expected a bit more depth for an 8 year old. The Moscatel influence is nice, just wish the distillery character came through stronger.

27 March 2026Had this at a tasting night and it was perfectly enjoyable neat. Sweet and fruity with some oak spice on the finish. The Moscatel cask does its job well but I wouldn't say it blew me away. At 8 years old it shows promise for what Nc'nean will produce down the line.

24 March 2026The ex-Moscatel cask gives this a gorgeous sweetness — dried apricot and honeyed grape right on the nose. At 54.2% it's got real punch but doesn't burn if you let it breathe for ten minutes. Really impressed with what Nc'nean are doing at just 8 years old.

6 March 2026Picked this up on a whim and I'm glad I did. The nose is all sticky toffee and raisins from that Moscatel cask, and the palate delivers with baked pear and a hint of dark chocolate. Added a few drops of water and it really opened up. Cask strength done right.

19 February 2026Don't let the 8 year old age statement fool you. That Moscatel cask has given this whisky a richness you'd expect from something much older — think fig, raisin, and a lovely sticky sweetness. I drink most of my cask strength stuff with a splash of water and this one really benefits from it. Proper treat.

18 February 2026I'm a sucker for wine cask finishes and this Moscatel single cask is outstanding. Rich dried fruit and grape jam on the nose, then warm spice and candied orange on the palate. The 54.2% ABV carries all those flavours without overwhelming them. Already looking for a backup bottle.

26 January 2026It's a solid whisky — fruity, sweet, decent finish — but nearly £93 for an 8 year old single cask is steep. I've had Moscatel-finished drams from older distilleries at similar prices that had more complexity. One to try at a bar before committing to a bottle.
