20 reviewsPicked this up on a recommendation and I'm glad I did. Beautiful amber colour, nose is toffee and stewed fruits with a hint of vanilla. Really smooth finish that lingers just the right amount. It's not going to blow your head off at 40% but sometimes that's exactly what you want — just a refined, easy-going single malt.

23 January 2026Gordon & MacPhail really know how to pick casks. This 21 year old is all dried fruits, honey, and gentle oak on the nose, and the palate delivers exactly what it promises. I sip it neat after dinner and it never disappoints. At 40% it's maybe a touch gentle but that makes it dangerously easy to drink.

4 January 2026Nice whisky, don't get me wrong — there's a lovely sherry sweetness and some baked apple notes that I really enjoyed. But at nearly a hundred quid I expected a bit more complexity for 21 years in wood. The 40% ABV feels like it holds it back. I'd buy it again on sale but not at full price when there are punchier Speysides out there for less.

14 December 2025I've had a few Gordon & MacPhail bottlings and they're consistently solid. This 21 year old has that classic Speyside character — orchard fruits, a touch of spice, and a creamy texture that works brilliantly neat. My wife even liked it and she usually sticks to gin. The £97 feels fair for the age statement, especially compared to distillery own-bottlings at similar ages.
