Tasting Notes

Nose

Sweet and approachable — sugar cane, oak, candied apple, sherry notes of raisin, cherry, apricot, orange zest, butterscotch and honey

Palate

Marshmallow and anise — coating warmth of ginger and citrus, sherry, plums, powdered sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, silky round mouthfeel, admittedly mild for a single malt but deliberately so

Finish

Smooth — oak coming through strongest, pleasant and approachable, the double cask providing complexity without intensity

Expert Review

7/10

Aged in two types of sherry-seasoned oak — American and European — creating a whisky that bridges the richness of traditional sherry Macallan with lighter, more approachable character. Butterscotch, honey, and plum. A perfect gateway Speyside that some call the best Macallan entry point.
