Picked this up as a treat and I'm glad I did. Thick and warming at 50.3%, loads of dried fruit and dark toffee with a peppery kick at the end. My wife who doesn't usually go for cask strength whiskies even asked for a second glass. Says it all really.

The 50.3% ABV really lets the sherry influence shine without needing water. I get dried orange peel, Christmas cake, and a long spicy finish. For a no-age-statement Macallan this one actually delivers. I'd buy another bottle at this price point.

Had this neat after dinner and it's a well-made dram — toffee, dark chocolate, hint of ginger on the nose. It drinks smooth for the strength. My only gripe is that at nearly £100 you're paying a Macallan tax when there are comparable Speyside malts for less.

I've tried several Classic Cut releases and the 2023 is my favourite so far. Big sherry-forward notes — raisins, vanilla, a touch of oak smoke. The cask strength really carries the flavours and it opens up beautifully with a few drops of water.
