7.8/10

A cask strength Linkwood from Ferg and Harris, finished in virgin oak and bottled at a punchy 55.5% — an independent Speyside release with genuine character and a fair price tag at £88.95.

Decent dram with nice toffee and dried fruit notes from that virgin oak cask. I enjoyed it neat but at nearly £90 I expected a bit more complexity for a 12 year old. The finish is medium and pleasant enough, just doesn't blow me away.

At 55.5% this Linkwood packs a wallop but it's well-integrated. The virgin oak finish gives it loads of vanilla and baking spice that you don't usually get from Speyside. Added a few drops of water and got lovely orchard fruit and honey underneath. Cracking independent bottling.
