Tasting Notes

Nose

Palate

Sweet caramel building into rich barbecue-like peat, dried fruit, raisins, salted toffee, coastal brine, warm spice — the PX adding a layer of sticky dark-fruit sweetness

Finish

Exceptionally long — fruity and peaty, lingering smoke and sherry warmth, the double maturation creating depth the standard 16 hints at

Expert Review

8.5/10

Part of Diageo's Classic Malts Distillers Edition series, released annually since 1997. Double matured — first in ex-bourbon casks (as standard Lagavulin 16), then finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Each release states its distillation and bottling vintage on the label. The PX finish adds sticky dark-fruit sweetness absent from the standard 16.
