Tasting Notes

Nose

Honey-roasted peanuts, vanilla, red apple, apricot, a hint of roasted oak, cinnamon, orange peel — light and approachable

Palate

Caramel and vanilla lead, light fruit and honey, thin mouthfeel at 40% — straightforward corn sweetness, a mixer's bourbon

Finish

Short — corn sweetness and vanilla fade quickly, lacks complexity but delivers reliability, the signature Beam yeast character lingering

Expert Review

9.2/10

Seven generations of the Beam family, starting with Jacob Beam (born Johannes Bohm, a German immigrant) who sold his first barrels around 1795. Renamed in 1943 to honour James B. Beam, who rebuilt the distillery after Prohibition. The world's best-selling bourbon — approximately 75% corn, 13% rye, 12% malted barley.
